Folder & File Display¶

ExtraDock lets you customize how folders and files appear in a dock.

Folder hover label¶

Open a folder item’s settings and choose what appears when you hover over it:

Enable Always show folder name below icon to display a label under the folder icon.

Leave the custom name blank to use the real folder name, or enter your own visible label.

Enable Icon Color to tint a folder icon. This is useful when you have several folders and want each one to be easier to recognize.

Choose which app opens a folder when clicked.

By default, folders open in Finder. You can choose another file manager for individual folders.

For non-app file items, enable Hide file extension if you want a cleaner label in the dock.
